Standards Check & Remedial ADI Coaching
Confidential, 1-to-1 OrDIT Grade A coaching in Portsmouth to help you pass your DVSA Standards Check or rebuild confidence after a difficult result.
Protect Your ADI Status with Grade A Coaching
Every DVSA Approved Driving Instructor must undergo a Standards Check at least once during their registration period. The examiner assesses your ability to deliver client-centred learning, manage risk effectively, and adapt your teaching style to real-time pupil needs.
When you spend hours in the car every week, it is easy to slip into unconscious habits that don't align with current DVSA marking criteria. As an OrDIT-registered Grade A trainer, I provide supportive, non-judgemental coaching designed to refine your road craft and secure your registration.
The 3 Pillars of the DVSA Standards Check
1. Lesson Planning
Ensuring the pupil's goals are clearly defined, tailored to their current ability, and adapted dynamically when unexpected situations occur during the lesson.
2. Risk Management
Balancing instructor intervention with pupil responsibility so physical and verbal safety is maintained without over-controlling the car.
3. Teaching Strategies
Using active listening, effective questioning techniques, constructive feedback, and client-centred coaching rather than traditional lectures.
Remedial & Rescue Coaching (100% Confidential)
Receiving an unsatisfactory result on a Standards Check or failing a Part 3 attempt can feel overwhelming, but it doesn't mean your career is over.
- Detailed Report Analysis: We break down your previous DVSA assessment form (SC1 / Part 3 report) to pinpoint exact areas for improvement.
- Mock Standards Checks: Practice full mock assessments in a supportive, constructive setting before your final DVSA re-test date.
- Rebuilding Instructional Confidence: Eliminate stress, fix instructional faults, and learn how to present a natural, highly effective lesson.
- Strict Confidentiality Guaranteed: All sessions are kept entirely private between you and Chris.
How Standards Check Preparation Works
- Initial Discussion & Debrief: We discuss your current pupil base, teaching style, and any specific concerns or past feedback.
- In-Car Lesson Observation: I observe you conducting a live lesson with one of your existing pupils (or act as a mock pupil/examiner).
- Constructive Debrief & Action Plan: We review the 17 competency areas together, highlighting what went brilliantly and refining any areas that need adjustment.
