Instructor Training & Test Terms & Conditions
Terms governing ADI Part 1, Part 2, Part 3, Trainee Licence Sponsorship, and Standards Check coaching with Chris Deane ADI in Portsmouth.
1. Trainee Eligibility & DVSA Registration
- Driving Licence & History: You must hold a full UK or EU/EEA driving licence for a minimum of 3 years and maintain fewer than 6 penalty points. You must notify your trainer immediately of any pending motoring prosecutions or licence endorsements.
- DVSA DBS Check & PRN: It is your responsibility to complete the official DVSA enhanced DBS check and obtain your Personal Reference Number (PRN) before taking the Part 1 exam. (Note: Non-DVSA DBS checks, including military or teaching credentials, are not accepted by the DVSA).
- Fitness to Train: You must be fit to drive and instruct at all times. Lessons will be cancelled immediately without refund if you are suspected of being under the influence of alcohol, drugs, or impairing medication.
2. Course Fees, Block Discounts & Test Fees
- DVSA Test Fees Excluded: Course tuition fees are paid strictly for professional coaching and vehicle hire time. Official DVSA exam fees (Part 1, Part 2, Part 3, and Trainee Licence fees) are paid directly to the DVSA and are not included in course packages.
- Block Booking Discounts: Session rates are discounted for 10-hour block offers or for complete course packages paid in full in advance.
- Block Booking Expiry: All prepaid instructor training packages and block bookings must be used within 6 months of purchase; unused hours are forfeited thereafter.
- Partial Refund Policy: If a course package is terminated early by the trainee, completed training hours will be recalculated at the standard single 2-hour rate (£90) before any remaining balance is processed.
3. Training & Test Cancellation Policy
Due to high demand and strict scheduling for in-car and classroom OrDIT coaching, formal notice periods apply:
- 48-Hour Lesson Notice: Standard 2-hour training sessions require a minimum of 48 hours' notice to cancel or reschedule without penalty. Late cancellations will be charged in full.
- 7-Day Test Booking Notice: Practical test day bookings (Part 2, Part 3, or Standards Check mock sessions) require a minimum of 7 days' notice to adjust without forfeiting vehicle hire fees.
- Trainer Cancellations: If your trainer must cancel a session due to vehicle breakdown, sudden illness, or extreme weather, your session will be rescheduled at the earliest mutually agreeable date.
4. Vehicle Provision for DVSA Qualification Exams
- Prior Confirmation Required: You must consult and confirm test dates with your trainer before booking any practical DVSA exam to ensure trainer and vehicle availability.
- Test Readiness & Vehicle Rights: The provision of a tuition vehicle for a Part 2 or Part 3 examination is subject to your trainer's professional assessment. We reserve the right to withhold the vehicle if your driving or instructional performance poses a safety risk or falls substantially below DVSA test standards.
- DVSA Exam Cancellations: We accept no financial liability for exams cancelled by the DVSA due to examiner illness, severe weather, or test centre disruptions. Vehicle hire time for attending the test centre remains payable.
5. Trainee Licence Sponsorship (Pink Licence)
- Extra Training Option Only: Sponsorship is provided strictly under the DVSA "Extra Training Option," which requires an additional 20 hours of mandatory supervised coaching within your 6-month licence period.
- Tuition Vehicle & Controls: Trainees must supply their own suitable vehicle fitted with dual controls and appropriate driving tuition insurance.
- Branding & Representation: All lessons delivered on a Trainee Licence must operate strictly under the approved Chris Deane ADI driving school banner. Trainees are strictly prohibited from advertising themselves as fully qualified ADIs.
